If you want a big Saturday, Valencia's flag football team plays Quartz Hill for the Division 3 championship. The Vikings reached the final with a 32-20 semifinal win, and a victory would give the program its first CIF-SS championship.

  • Where: Huntington Beach High School, Sat., Nov. 7
  • Playoff wins: 25-6 Temescal Canyon, 33-0 Lawndale, 19-14 Compton

Quarterback Camila Quintero led the semifinal, completing 18 of 29 passes and carrying eight times. Coach Cedric McCalister credits his defense: “defense is what won those games for us.”

Valencia and Quartz Hill already know each other: they tied 0-0 in August, and McCalister says both teams have improved since. The reports disagree on kickoff. The Signal lists 12:30 p.m. and KHTS lists 5 p.m., so we suggest confirming the time before you head to Huntington Beach.
