- ➤ On Wednesday’s warm summer evening, Santa Clarita unveiled River of Lights at Central Park where nearly 2,000 residents gathered to enjoy live music and a flag raising. County firefighters were dispatched at 1:10 p.m. on June 26 to a brush fire in Val Verde after a fire training exercise ignited nearby brush and arrived at 1:11 p.m. to find a 1-acre blaze in medium fuels that may expand to 10 to 20 acres (the fire originated at the Del Valle Regional Training Center).
