CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Theatre Extempore will present the classic musical The Fantasticks at The MAIN (24266 Main St.) from Jan. 9 to Jan. 11, 8-10 p.m. The show, after a 42-year run, promises to charm audiences with a tale of young love and growing up. Hometown Station
- ➤ On December 21, 1910, the Newhall Auto Tunnel opened to link the San Fernando and Santa Clarita Valleys with a 435-foot passage; its narrow design led to replacement in 1938 by the four-lane Sierra Highway. Hometown Station
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A major winter storm is expected to hit Santa Clarita starting Tuesday, bringing heavy rain and strong winds with a flood watch in effect from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday evening (rainfall may reach up to 5 inches in some areas). Showers will continue into Christmas. Hometown Station
