  • The College of the Canyons Board of Trustees split their votes 2 each on the board presidency during its December meeting and will revisit the vote on Jan. 9. The board also named Dr. Jasmine Ruys interim superintendent who will start Jan. 1, 2026 (with a monthly pay of $25,250).  Hometown Station

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Santa Clarita will see a wet Christmas as rain is forecast to begin Tuesday and continue through Christmas Day. Showers are expected to linger into the weekend while the storm brings 2-5 inches of rain, gusts up to 40 mph, and cooler temperatures across the valley.  Hometown Station

SPORTS NEWS

  • In Foothill League soccer, the Saugus boys strengthened their grip on first place with a 2-0 win over Hart on Dec. 18—while the Hart girls claimed the league lead with a 2-0 victory over Saugus. Both teams have additional games scheduled through January.  SCVNews.com
  • Trinity Classical Academy’s senior Hudson Sweitzer won first place in the 215-pound bracket at the Coyote Classic in Bakersfield on Dec. 13, scoring pins in all five matches, and he will wrestle at the Ed Spring Holiday Classic at Brea Olinda High School on Friday and Saturday.  The Santa Clarita Valley Signal
  • Valencia High School junior golfer Eliana Saga was named to the 2026 U.S. National Junior Team, marking the first honor for a rising Santa Clarita star (she posted a strong finish at the CIF State Girls Golf Championship).
