- ➤ Representative George Whitesides visited the SCV Senior Center on Friday to donate (several thousand dollars) to support its Meals on Wheels, which serves up to 500 meals daily to seniors. He also helped deliver meals and toured the facility during the center’s annual appeal campaign. Hometown Station
- ➤ Dr. Thomas Polucki and his wife donated 587 canned and dried food items to Santa Clarita Grocery last month to help families during Thanksgiving (their contribution was part of a broader drive that included donations from the Rotary Club and Freedom’s Way Baptist). Hometown Station
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Mission Opera presents Amahl and the Night Visitors, a Nativity story, at several local churches with showtimes from 4-5 p.m. The run starts Sunday, Dec. 21 at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church and continues through Jan. 10 at St. Kateri Catholic Church. SCVNews.com

- ➤ The Castaic Union School District Governing Board will meet on Thursday, Dec. 11 at 6 p.m. at its district office (28131 Livingston Ave., Valencia) to discuss an increase to the 2025/2026 contractor agreement with Behavior Insights, Inc., following a private session at 5 p.m. Public input is welcome. - ➤ Valencia girls basketball team won Friday night's Foothill League opener by defeating Hart 66-17, with sophomore Alexis Epie scoring 16 points and young players giving a strong performance. They will face Saugus at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Saugus High School. Hometown Station
- ➤ Valencia boys basketball opened Foothill League play on Friday night as the Vikings beat Hart 79 to 60 with strong defense & offense. They will carry their momentum into Tuesday’s game against Saugus at 6:30 p.m. Hometown Station
- ➤ College of the Canyons sophomore tackle TJ Taylor signed with the University of Illinois on Dec. 3 at the COC Athletic Facility (he earned unanimous all-league honors that helped the Cougars excel) and became the first 2025 team member to join a four-year program. SCVNews.com
