COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The California Highway Patrol Newhall Area Office will stuff a school bus full of toys for children on December 6 and 7 to support a holiday toy drive in our community (event details).  SCVNews.com
  • The Cube Ice and Entertainment Center will host Santa Clarita’s fifth annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, December 5 at 7:00 p.m. City Council members will lead the tree lighting countdown—while guests enjoy a preview of the Holiday Skate Show, public skating, and a teddy bear toss fundraiser after the West Ranch Junior Varsity Hockey Team game at 8:15 p.m.  Hometown Station
  • Giving Tuesday is next week and residents are asked to donate supplies or money to help local non-profits. The program started in 2012 through a partnership between the 92nd Street Y and United Nations Foundation and benefits groups such as Santa Clarita Grocery and Fostering Youth Independence.  Hometown Station

  • CalArts graduate Ed Harris (A Beautiful Mind, Apollo 13, Westworld) was born in 1950 in New Jersey and is marked as part of Santa Clarita history.  SCVNews.com
  • The Santa Clarita Symphony Orchestra will present 'Sounds of the Season' on Sunday, Dec. 7 at 4 p.m. at Canyon High School Performing Arts Center—showcasing festive holiday music and surprise guests. Ticket prices are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and $10 for children.  SCVNews.com
  • A retelling of the Nutcracker called 'A Nutcracker Fantasy' will be held on Dec. 12-13 at The Cube — Ice and Entertainment Center powered by FivePoint Valencia. The production will offer a fresh take on the classic holiday tale for local audiences.  SCVNews.com

  • Valencia football players Brady Bretthauer and Brian Bonner were named 2025 Foothill League Co-Players of the Year after strong season numbers—Bretthauer had 1,842 passing yards and 564 rushing yards while Bonner surpassed 1,000 rushing yards. Saugus quarterback Jake Nuttall broke school records and Hart defensive end Josh Whitson was named Defensive Player of the Year.  Hometown Station
