- ➤ On November 26th, 1916, 22 IWW members wrecked Newhall jail’s interior after being captured from a commandeered train when a sheriff-led posse ended any resistance. The 1906 jail later became a relic near Old Town Newhall Library — a reminder of Santa Clarita’s early law enforcement history — with its wooden benches replaced by concrete after an escape attempt.
