- ➤ Santa Clarita residents braved the heaviest rainstorm in over four years on November 16th to celebrate the start of the holiday season at Light Up Main Street (an event featuring a tree lighting, live entertainment, food trucks and a winter playground). Mayor Pro Tem Laurene Weste along with councilmembers and special guests including Santa Claus helped light the tree and mark the festive evening. Hometown Station
- ➤ The Salvation Army Santa Clarita Valley Corps hosted its annual Red Kettle Campaign Kickoff on November 15 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Light Up Main Street, where Captain Purnell Hall and board members launched the holiday season as one of the city’s official North Pole Partners—located at the corner of Main and Market Streets. Visitors played games, won prizes and learned about programs that provide toys, clothing, meals and shelter to local families. Hometown Station
- ➤ Earlier celebrations on November 15 in Old Town Newhall and at Valencia Town Center kicked off the holiday season with tree lightings and Santa meet-and-greets. The season continues with family-friendly events at Six Flags Magic Mountain from November 27, a Holiday Craft Fair at Placerita Canyon on December 6 and 7, and A Nutcracker Fantasy ice shows at The Cube on December 12 and 13—ensuring festive fun for all ages. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ On November 16, 1941, descendants of early California pioneers gathered at the foot of the Grapevine to dedicate a plaque marking Rose Stagecoach Station, an important stop on the Butterfield Overland Mail Route (built by William B. Rose in 1875). The marker honors the site that served as a post office, stockmen’s headquarters, and polling place, emphasizing its key role in the region's early travel history. Hometown Station
