COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Signal’s community news organization will launch a new 24-hour streaming channel—The Buzz—on Nov. 24 and will offer local video and podcast shows alongside national programs via its website, podcast platforms, and smart-TV apps.  The Santa Clarita Valley Signal
  • Even though up to 2 inches of rain is forecast on Saturday, Light Up Main Street presented by DrinkPak will light up Old Town Newhall from 4 to 8 p.m. The Santa Clarita City Council will lead a 5:30 p.m. countdown to light the Christmas tree—while some activities like s'mores fire pits and snow machines will be canceled.  Hometown Station
  • The Signal celebrated Santa Clarita’s Top 51 influential people at Salt Creek Grille on November 13th. Community leaders such as Councilman Jason Gibbs and Assemblywoman Pilar Schiavo praised local dedication — noting that hard work and service shape the Valley’s future.  The Santa Clarita Valley Signal
  • Carousel Ranch, a Santa Clarita nonprofit, was awarded a $75,000 grant from the S. Mark Taper Foundation to fund its Ready to Work program for young adults with special needs.   • Santa Clarita Valley residents were advised by the Greater Los Angeles Vector Control to clean roof gutters, yard drains, and rain barrels — these measures help block standing water that can breed mosquitoes and spread diseases.  Hometown Station

SPORTS NEWS

  • After winning their second consecutive regular season championship, The Master’s University women’s volleyball team placed five players on the All-GSAC list. Bella Amet earned Player of the Year + Kate Wagner, Sierra Hale, Macy Gebhards and McKenna Brady also received key honors.  SCVNews.com
  • The Master's University women's volleyball team beat the Life Pacific Warriors in straight sets on November 12 at The MacArthur Center—advancing to the GSAC final for the second straight year. They will face OUAZ on November 15 at 1 p.m. at the same venue.  SCVNews.com
  • The Master's University won the GSAC Women's Soccer Championship by defeating the No. 7-ranked Embry-Riddle Eagles 5—4 on penalty kicks after the game ended 0—0 in regulation and overtime in Prescott, Ariz. The team qualified for the NAIA Women’s Soccer National Championship Tournament and will learn at 4 p.m. today where they will travel for the opening round.  SCVNews.com
  • Following first-round playoff wins, Hart, Saugus, Trinity Classical Academy and Santa Clarita Christian School are preparing for CIF-SS quarterfinals — Hart will travel to face Palm Springs while Saugus hosts Calabasas Friday evening and Trinity hosts Pioneer at 7 p.m. today, with Santa Clarita Christian set to meet Cate Saturday at College of the Canyons.  Hometown Station
