- ➤ Hard Rock Casino Tejon, a $600 million project developed with the Tejon Indian Tribe, will open at 12 noon on November 13 on tribal land 45 miles north of Santa Clarita+ the new destination will feature a 150,000-square-foot gaming floor with over 2,000 slot machines and 50 live table games, while having created thousands of construction jobs and promising 1,000 permanent roles along with local infrastructure improvements. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The last Saugus Speedway grandstands, a landmark that stood for over 50 years, were demolished on November 9th, 2012, ending an era of stock car racing and the famous Saugus Swap Meet. Portions of the speedway remain as historical artifacts with the scoreboard sign set for display at Heritage Junction (a project by the Historical Society) and the site now sold for a mixed-use development (the Riverview Project near the Metrolink Station). - ➤ County leaders launched the new Theora Care GPS smartwatch on October 15 at Grand Park to help track people with Alzheimer’s, autism or dementia who may wander.
