  • The William S. Hart Regiment will host the 41st Annual Rampage Marching Band Competition in Valencia on Nov. 1 at Cougar Stadium (College of the Canyons) where bands will compete for top honors.  SCVNews.com
  • In 1923, the Newhall Chamber of Commerce petitioned the state to pave Spruce Street (now Main), and the pavement was completed three years later.  SCVNews.com
  • Chabad of SCV is accepting donations and grocery store gift cards to help local families facing delayed EBT benefits amid the ongoing government shutdown. Starting Nov. 1, families in need will receive free food packages with poultry, dairy, produce & baby food from Chabad’s Newhall location.  The Santa Clarita Valley Signal

  • Firefighters responded to a hazmat call at the Valencia Audi dealership on Creekside Road on October 30th after a strong odor was reported—paramedics treated three people who felt lightheaded and deputies closed the road.  Hometown Station

  • The Valley Industry Association of the Santa Clarita Valley held its 2025 BASH, The Mad Hatters Ball, on Oct. 24 at the Hyatt Regency Valencia to honor local business and community leaders — awards were given to Ricki Macken-Chilvers for Volunteer of the Year, 360 Executive Suites SCV for Business of the Year, and JCI Santa Clarita for the Community Impact Award.  SCVNews.com

CULTURE NEWS

  • College of the Canyons professor Dr. Eddie Becton will give a talk (starting at 6 p.m. on Nov. 13 at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center) on how Black music has shaped the country’s views of freedom and fairness (the event is free and open to everyone).  Hometown Station
  • Old Town Newhall Library will host a Herbology Class on Thursday, Nov. 6 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. + the event marks the close of the magical crafting season and offers a creative opportunity for community members.  SCVNews.com
  • The Fil-Am of SCV and the Santa Clarita Sister Cities will host 'Halina sa Aming Bayan'—a cultural festival in honor of Filipino-American History Month—on Saturday, Nov. 8 at Newhall Community Center from 3—9 p.m., where families can enjoy traditional storytelling, dancing, and street food that highlight Filipino culture.  SCVNews.com
  • On October 30, 1907, naturalist Florence Merriam Bailey traveled through Saugus and Soledad Canyon as she documented California’s wildlife and landscapes during her research trip. SPORTS NEWS

  • After a winless start, the Santa Clarita Christian Cardinals improved with two Heritage League wins and ended a four-game road trip with a 34-28 win over the Milken Wildcats. The team will host Faith Baptist Saturday at Hart High School as they look to build on their mid-season turnaround under coach Austin Fry + prepare for a playoff run.  The Santa Clarita Valley Signal
  • The Saugus girls volleyball team lost 29-27, 22-25, 22-25, 20-25 to the St. Margaret’s Tartans in a home quarterfinal match on Oct. 29—ending their playoff run after an opening set win.   • Today, Saugus hosts Golden Valley for an automatic playoff berth in the Foothill League while Trinity looks to clinch its Cottonwood League title and Valencia keeps its unbeaten record; Saugus quarterback Jake Nuttall recently broke school records as local teams prepare for a busy final week of regular season play.  Hometown Station
