  • Old Town Newhall Public Library will host its Halloween Parade and Costume Party on Oct. 30 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. at 24500 Main St. in Santa Clarita—local residents are invited to attend the event.  SCVNews.com
  • The Sand Canyon Country Club will host its free Sand Canyon Spooktacular Halloween event on Oct. 31 from 5-7 p.m.—locals are invited to enjoy the festive evening at the club.  SCVNews.com
  • A Night with the Stars will be held on Nov 1 at 5 p.m. at 26415 Carl Boyer Drive to support animals cared for by the Castaic Animal Care Center. Local celebrities and community leaders will join for live entertainment by Rocky Folk, food and drinks – with ticket sales and raffle proceeds funding improved animal care.  Hometown Station
  • Valencia Christian Center will host Harvest Fest Sunday at 10 a.m. on Oct. 26 for local community members to enjoy harvest activities.  SCVNews.com

  • Councilwoman Marsha McLean said Santa Clarita's Parenting for Prevention program helps families with substance abuse prevention, mental health, online safety and peer pressure. The initiative, launched in 2024, now offers bilingual podcasts — English and Spanish — in-person meetings in Newhall and Canyon Country, and a monthly video series for quick tips.  SCVNews.com

  • Today, Master’s University Theatre Arts presents ‘The Secret of Chimneys’ at the Music Recital Hall on Quigley Canyon Road—based on Agatha Christie’s 1925 mystery novel, the play will explore secrets and a murder investigation with performances today at 8 p.m., tomorrow at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., Oct. 31 at 8 p.m., and Nov. 1 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.  SCVNews.com
  • The Rancho Camulos Museum opened 'The Whimsical World of Carl Peters' exhibit on Oct. 11th, showing tools, art pieces, and artifacts by blacksmith Carl Peters who worked on the property from 1920 to 1943. EDUCATION NEWS

  • At the Hart board meeting, student rep Maya Yiadom raised concerns when 31 students in Santa Clarita were detained for curfew violations (with some being handcuffed and having their belongings seized during routine activities) and board members debated whether a 10 p.m. curfew is realistic (especially given late school events and safety issues).  Hometown Station

SPORTS NEWS

  • In the first round of the CIF Southern Section playoffs, Castaic won its first-ever playoff game by beating San Gabriel Academy 3—0 and Valencia defeated St. Bonaventure 3—1 while local teams Canyon and SCCS ended their seasons. Castaic and Valencia will host next-round games Saturday at 6 p.m.  The Santa Clarita Valley Signal
  • Valencia girls’ tennis team will host the 25th Fall Brawl tournament at Valencia High School on Saturday, October 25, where four high schools from Santa Clarita Valley and Southern California will begin singles and doubles matches at 8 a.m.+ The event, returning for the first time since 2019, will feature each school entering six players in a single-elimination format with a consolation bracket for additional wins.  The Santa Clarita Valley Signal
  • Santa Clarita high school football teams are playing key games today at 7 p.m.—Hart goes to Valencia where a win would give them their first Foothill League title since 2007, while a Valencia win would keep their title hopes alive. Other teams in the Cottonwood and Heritage Leagues, like Trinity Classical, Saugus, Golden Valley, and Santa Clarita Christian School, will try to boost their playoff chances in games at College of the Canyons, Canyon High School, and Temecula Prep.  Hometown Station
