  • The Cube will host Skate and Scare on October 25th from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. The event will feature a costume contest for Scariest, Most Creative and Best Kid’s Costume winners & local dining options.  Hometown Station
  • On October 12th, 1915, the U.S. government officially changed the Surrey post office’s name to Saugus to clear up confusion with the local rail station. The new name quickly tied the community’s identity—linking its railroad roots to its growing town—marking an important moment in Santa Clarita history.  Hometown Station

EDUCATION NEWS

  • College of the Canyons will host its free Fall Star Party on Oct. 24 at the lower plaza next to the Takeda Science Center, where NASA scientist Dr. Athina Peidou will explain how GRACE-FO missions track Earth’s water. The event runs from 6 to 9:30 p.m. and will feature telescope viewing with local astronomy clubs — offering interactive science displays.  Hometown Station
  • On Wednesday, the Governing Board honored 18 William S. Hart Union High School District Teachers of the Year, including math teacher Nicholas Patey from Golden Valley High School who was named District Teacher of the Year. Superintendent Michael Vierra said the board recognized the educators for their commitment to challenging and supporting students—highlighting a strong impact in every classroom.  Hometown Station

HEALTH NEWS

  • A Santa Clarita family entered both of their six-month-old twins in America’s Adorable Baby contest to raise funds for NICU families and help with costly medical bills from premature birth challenges. Lucas was chosen to advance in the contest—if he wins, the $25,000 prize will ease financial burdens and support more families.  Hometown Station

  • Trinity Knights won a close game by beating Silver Valley 39-36 on Homecoming night at home as quarterback Andrew Carlson added two passing touchdowns and a pick-six to secure their second-straight league win.  The Santa Clarita Valley Signal
