- ➤ On September 27th, 1935, RKO Pictures released Powdersmoke Range in Newhall, a B-western that helped start a famous cowboy series. The film featured local actor Buzz Barton as Buck and local stars Hoot Gibson and Harry Carey—marking a milestone in Santa Clarita film history. Hometown Station
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ SCV Water will host a virtual community meeting on Monday, October 6 at 6 p.m. to share updates and key milestones for its new S Wells PFAS Treatment & Disinfection Facility on Bridgeport Lane near Bridgeport Park and the Santa Clara River; the project will remove PFAS to protect local groundwater and provide safe water for over 6,500 homes. - ➤ The UCLA men’s hockey team has made The Cube their home ice for the 2025-26 season with 12 scheduled games including their first game today at 12:15 p.m. against Northern Arizona State University — general admission is free but subject to change. The Santa Clarita Valley Signal
- ➤ Canyon’s senior running back Keyshawn Wooten rushed for 326 yards and two touchdowns as his team won 42-0 against Castaic on Friday, earning their first win of the season — his runs included a 97-yard touchdown that helped set the pace. The Santa Clarita Valley Signal
- ➤ Hart boys and Saugus girls won their cross country races on Saturday morning at Central Park in the first Foothill League meet.
