- ➤ On September 23, 1948, 15 Agua Dulce residents formed the Agua Dulce Women’s Club—originally the Mothers’ Club—to support the local school, with Myrtle Fletcher elected as its first president. - ➤ The Hart district held its Annual Community Discussion: A Culture of Safety and Wellness at the Canyon Country Community Center on Thursday, where district leaders and Sheriff’s Capt. - ➤ Yesterday, the Santa Clarita City Council pulled a library policy item from the consent calendar for correction and approved $525,000 for senior services to support home-delivered meals + transportation, recreation, and wellness programs at the SCV Senior Center at Bella Vida. Councilmembers also issued proclamations for National Hispanic Heritage Month and National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month and set the next meeting for October 14. Hometown Station
- ➤ Residents in Castaic and Val Verde can join a virtual hearing at 9 a.m. on Nov. 20 to give input on new CARB methane rules for landfills as the agency looks to update monitoring and reduce odor complaints driven by over 30,000 reports near Chiquita Canyon. - ➤ Local high school football games in the Foothill League saw wins by Hart, Valencia, and Golden Valley on Sept 19 while College of the Canyons recorded its first win on Sept 20—teams now look forward to upcoming matchups on Sept 26 and Sept 27 with games at various schools.
