- ➤ City Manager Ken Striplin announced that Old Orchard Park will reopen on Tuesday, Sept. 30 at 9:30 a.m. after a complete transformation that now includes a reimagined playground with climbing areas, an ADA-compliant restroom, upgraded sports courts for pickleball and futsal, and new public art—The Dreams of the Golden Oak—by artist Gail Christofferson. - ➤ The Santa Clarita Film Office announced that six productions began filming in the Santa Clarita Valley on Sept. 15 and will continue until Sept. 20 — these projects include TV shows, a feature film, a commercial and a still photo production. SCVNews.com
- ➤ The Santa Clarita Artists Association and the Old Town Newhall Association will host the first Old Town Newhall Fine Art Festival on Main Street in Newhall—local and Southern California artists will display juried art and live chalk masterpieces while music and activities add to the event, which is free and open to the public on Saturday Oct. 11 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday Oct. 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. SCVNews.com

- ➤ The William S. Hart Union High School District board approved four new policies on September 15 and set a flag rule that limits campus displays to the American, California and school flags—parents, students and community members voiced sharply divided opinions on the change. - ➤ Volunteer registration is open until Friday, September 19 for the 30th Annual River Rally Clean-Up and Environmental Expo scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 20 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Wiley Canyon Road near the Via Princessa bridge and east of Orchard Village Road — the event will offer riverbed trash removal, interactive games, and opportunities to adopt dogs with waived fees for Santa Clarita residents. - ➤ Assemblywoman Pilar Schiavo announced that 11 bills have passed both houses and are now on the Governor’s desk to be signed, while five additional bills will advance when the Legislature reconvenes in January—targeting issues such as housing affordability, community safety, and veteran support. - ➤ Maddy Traylor scored two second-half goals to give The Master's University women's soccer team a 2—0 win over the Redlands Bulldogs on Saturday, September 13 in Redlands—marking their third straight win and second shutout.
