ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A brush fire—dubbed the Town Fire—was first reported on Sunday at 3:15 p.m. along the southbound 5 Freeway near Templin Highway in Castaic and was halted at 2 acres as firefighters closed lanes 3 and 4.  Hometown Station

CRIME NEWS

  • On September 14th, 1924, a gunfight in Tunnel Canyon near Newhall resulted in the fatal shooting of Deputy Constable Ed Brown—who was engaged with laborer Gus Le Brun after a dispute with Bonita Darling.  Hometown Station

CULTURE NEWS

  • Santa Clarita native Jayson Dumenigo, who once slept in his truck while chasing his stuntman dream, received an Academy plaque on April 29 for his new safety gel—later this fall he was honored by the Television Academy, making him the first stunt performer to earn both awards in one year.  Hometown Station
