- ➤ Santa Clarita is accepting submissions for the 2026 Sidewalk Poetry Project, which will stamp original poems onto freshly poured sidewalks and invites poets to share a local secret—entries are due by Dec. 14. - ➤ On Sept. 11th, 1855, William Mulholland was born in Belfast, Ireland—he later built the Los Angeles Aqueduct that travels through Santa Clarita Valley to supply water to Los Angeles. - ➤ On Sept. 10 the Santa Clarita Community College District Board voted to place Interim Superintendent/President David C. Andrus on administrative leave and named Dr. Jasmine Ruys as Acting Superintendent/President to keep college operations running smoothly — the board will launch a nationwide search for a permanent president with a target appointment by July 1.
