- ➤ Santa Clarita will host many events this week for the community. On Friday, September 12th, Celebrate: Thailand offers food, music and art at Canyon Country Community Center while on Saturday the Elks Lodge Car & Bike Show and Master Chorale auditions add more fun for locals. Hometown Station
- ➤ Community leaders will toast the SCV Food Pantry’s 40th anniversary at the VIA After Five Mixer on Oct 2—marking 40 years of service to local residents. SCVNews.com
- ➤ On Saturday, October 25, the City of Santa Clarita will host Make A Difference Day where residents can volunteer to improve community spaces— such as the ARTree Community Arts Center courtyard, the historic Saugus Train Station dock, and park areas. - ➤ College of the Canyons’ Employee Training Institute received $850,000 from the California Employment Training Panel to train local businesses in Santa Clarita valley. The two-year reimbursement contract—its 18th of its kind—will allow eligible employers to offset training costs and support a competitive workforce. Hometown Station

- ➤ LA County Parks will host free Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations in 59 parks from Sept. 13 to Oct. 11—featuring music, food, art, and dance to honor Latino traditions. Local events include a festival at Castaic Sports Complex on Oct. 10 from 4—6 p.m. and another at Val Verde Park on Sept. 25 from 4—6 p.m. SCVNews.com

- ➤ On October 20, the College of the Canyons Foundation will host its Swing for Student Success golf tournament at the Valencia Country Club to raise funds for student scholarships, emergency aid, and vital services. The event will feature traditional contests and new activities such as an air cannon shot and helicopter ball drop—special perks include caddies from the championship men's golf team and an appearance by Malik Jackson. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The U.S. Small Business Administration is reminding California businesses and private nonprofits to apply by Oct. 8 for low interest disaster loans that help cover losses from wildfires and straight-line winds in January — the loans can be up to $2 million with favorable rates and terms up to 30 years. - ➤ Senator Suzette Martinez Valladares said her bill to let stores sell a cleaner, cheaper fuel blend called E15 passed the legislature and is now headed to the governor’s desk—the move is expected to bring new fuel choices to Santa Clarita. SCVNews.com
- ➤ The College of the Canyons board turned over an audit that found possible misuse of $12 million over 20 years to the District Attorney’s office during a closed session and held a second session to discuss whether to remove interim president David Andrus.
