CULTURE NEWS

  • The Santa Clarita Film Office announced six productions are filming in the valley from Sept. 8 to Sept. 13 — including Internet/Web project CA30, short films Working Title and Moral Dirt, student film Mapu Tofu and TV projects Golf and Untitled Reality Show. This filming continues the trend of last year's 897 location film days and supports the local economy through the city's film incentive program.  SCVNews.com

EDUCATION NEWS

  • College of the Canyons is accepting enrollment for over 455 late-start short-term classes for Fall — classes start in September, October and November at Valencia, Canyon Country and online. Students who enroll are considered returning students for winter session — giving them earlier access to registration and more course options.  Hometown Station
  • All schools in the Saugus Union School District were named All Stars by America’s Healthiest Schools for earning top marks in nine wellness categories—joining 168 national awardees, district leaders said the honor reflects their commitment to both physical and mental health.   • Today, City Manager Ken Striplin said Santa Clarita crews work in the Cone Zone to repair potholes, refresh lane markings, and clear debris as students return and summer winds down—drivers are urged to slow down, obey work zone signs, and yield to emergency vehicles.   • Assemblywoman Pilar Schiavo launched a tax relief website for families affected by the Chiquita Canyon Landfill — the website gives step-by-step guidance on using Franchise Tax Board forms after the tax relief law passed in July.   • West Ranch secured its first win of the season by defeating Antelope Valley 23-13 on the road, with head coach TJ Yonkers saying Blake Johnson will start after returning from injury—helping the team break a losing streak.
