- ➤ The Guardians SCV in partnership with KHTS Radio will host the 5th Annual 9/11 Patriot Day Car Show — a free, family-friendly event with a community breakfast from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturday, September 6 at Gateway Promenade in Valencia. The event will honor lives lost on 9/11 and feature classic and custom vehicles along with a remembrance ceremony and support from title and community sponsors. Hometown Station
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Saturday, a thunderstorm sparked a small lightning fire north of Castaic near the 45400 block of Ridge Route Road that measured about 30 by 30 feet—firefighters reported no expected spread. Hometown Station

- ➤ On Friday evening, deputies detained a man and a woman suspected of stealing merchandise from Dick’s Sporting Goods—after conducting a high-risk traffic stop near 7-Eleven on Bouquet Canyon Road and Plum Canyon Road. The Santa Clarita Valley Signal

- ➤ On Thursday, August 22nd, the 'Caribbean Nights' Senses Block Party on Main Street in Newhall drew lively crowds who danced to Caribbean band Upstream — interactive games and food trucks enhanced the evening. The Santa Clarita Valley Signal
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Sulphur Springs Union School District will report on CAASPP student test scores at the board meeting on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Canyon Country — the report will compare current scores with data beginning in 2023 to spot areas needing improvement. The Santa Clarita Valley Signal
- ➤ Saugus High School will celebrate its 50th anniversary on Monday, Sept. 8 in its auditorium (the Forum) with an event starting at 5:30 p.m. that invites alumni, friends, and community members to share stories from the school since it opened in 1975. The Santa Clarita Valley Signal
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The city announced that David March Park on Via Joyce Drive is closed while crews begin construction on new upgrades—outdoor exercise equipment, a covered picnic pavilion, a basketball court and a shaded playground—with the park set to reopen in January and the expansion project finishing in spring. Residents are encouraged to visit nearby parks until the work is complete. Hometown Station
