- ➤ A Santa Clarita woman in her 60s found a lost wallet in Stevenson Ranch and took the city bus to deliver it to the Sheriff’s Station—she did so after the owner reported it missing—. The wallet contained a man’s ID, credit cards, and cash and was returned intact. Hometown Station
- ➤ A GoFundMe was set up to help twin hockey players Alex and Ben, who helped West Ranch win a championship last season, stay on the ice as their family struggles with financial issues after both parents were laid off. Their fundraiser has raised $2,430 of a $6,900 goal and registration fees are due tomorrow — the community hopes these athletes can return to compete again. Hometown Station
- ➤ The Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control and YogaSix will host the 'Paws N’ Flow' adoption event in Stevenson Ranch on Aug. 23 from 12 to 3 p.m.—a donation-based yoga session with a $10 minimum will help fund care for rescued dogs. Attendees will meet adoptable pets, enjoy live music, visit local vendors, and hear Eric and Rashi Wiese give pet rescue tips. Hometown Station

- ➤ A fire broke out Tuesday at the WM-Santa Clarita Recycling Center (located on the 20800 block of Santa Clara Street) at around 12:25 p.m., and firefighters reported burning trash piles that sent heavy smoke into the sky. Hometown Station

- ➤ The Santa Clarita Film Office said eight productions began filming on Monday, Aug 18 and will continue through Saturday, Aug 23 in the Valley, including an Under Armour commercial, Code on Warp, Reasons 2026, Beverly Hills Shoot 25, and 081925. Additional projects include a television and two internet/web productions that will use local sites. Hometown Station
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Hart District high schools were named among the nation's best in the latest U.S. News and World Report rankings—schools such as Canyon, Hart, and West Ranch ranked in top national percentiles. - ➤ Rep. George Whitesides will host a Military Service Academy night for CA-27 students, parents, educators, and others on August 27 at 5:30 p.m.—the event will include speakers and alumni who will explain the nomination process for U.S. service academies. Hometown Station
- ➤ The Santa Clarita Planning Commission met Tuesday evening to review the Wiley Canyon Mixed-Use Project—cap housing now at 250 total units and require a traffic emergency plan for the assisted-living facility by September 16—and approved it unanimously. Developers also trimmed the senior facility size from 277,000 to 140,000 square feet and proposed three roundabouts on Wiley Canyon Road to address traffic and safety concerns. Hometown Station

- ➤ Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital was honored by the American College of Cardiology for its skill in heart care—making it the first hospital in Los Angeles County to earn Cardiac Cath Lab Accreditation with PCI in July.
