- ➤ In June, more than 1,000 Santa Clarita residents attended an illumination ceremony at Central Park where 214 programmable lights traced a 172-step staircase and the surrounding plaza. - ➤ Andrew Kim, a senior at Valencia High School, was awarded the Congressional Award Gold Medal for meeting strict requirements of volunteer service, personal development, physical fitness, and a five-day exploration—his achievement puts him among other young leaders recognized by the U.S. Congress.
