  • Soroptimist International of Valencia announced its 22nd annual Bras for a Cause fundraiser—titled 'Music of the Night'—which will take place on Saturday, Sept. 27 at the Hyatt Regency Valencia where live models will display hand-decorated bras and silent auction baskets. The event will raise critical funds to support local women in their breast cancer journey and has raised over $750,000 since its start.  The Santa Clarita Valley Signal
  • 4-year-old Eloise Burbach set up a lemonade stand and painted rocks to raise money for Child and Family Center—she split her $43 earnings among savings, a new dress, and a donation. Her grandparents helped start the stand and the center has launched the Eloise Challenge to match her gift.  The Santa Clarita Valley Signal
  • Fright Fest returns to Six Flags Magic Mountain from Sept. 19 to Nov. 2. The event will add new attractions—Maze: Carnage, Thunderbolt Alley, and Nightmares: Reign of Blood—alongside fan-favorite haunted mazes, scare zones and live shows.  Hometown Station
  • The Santa Clarita Elks Lodge is hosting a car and bike show on Sept. 13 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at its Sierra Highway location. The event will include a judged car and motorcycle display, live music by Catch 22 Band, food vendors, and a chili cook-off at noon—trophies will be awarded to winners while proceeds support Elks charitable programs.  The Santa Clarita Valley Signal

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • At 8:16 a.m. on Wednesday, a crash involving three vehicles blocked all southbound lanes of 14 Freeway in Canyon Country—two people were transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital and traffic backed up north to Agua Dulce Canyon Road until lanes reopened by 10:20 a.m.  Hometown Station

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Parents posted concerns on social media after noticing that children were not playing freely at Castaic Elementary—play areas were divided into safety zones instead of allowing free play, which led to parents questioning the new routine. Principal Erika Bowden apologized for the lack of communication and promised to include parents in future decisions, and by Wednesday the usual playground activities had resumed.  Hometown Station
  • The Santa Clarita Valley Youth Orchestra will hold auditions Saturday as it prepares for its 40th anniversary season—inviting youth musicians to try out for various ensembles in strings, winds, brass and percussion. Rehearsals will begin on Sundays in September and the group will tour Seattle in spring to offer new performance opportunities.  The Santa Clarita Valley Signal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Santa Clarita Mayor Bill Miranda said he wants the changed Main Street condo plan called The Hartwell to return to the Planning Commission for review after city staff planned a City Council reapproval. The plan now includes demolishing a local radio station building — a move that adds property for 20 more condos while city officials have not set a new review date.  The Santa Clarita Valley Signal
