  • Santa Clarita named La Puerta, a historic natural passage in Elsmere Canyon near State Highway 14, a California Point of Historical Interest on Aug. 8, recognizing its role as the main entry into the valley and its link to the Portola Expedition. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Los Angeles County declared a local emergency amid the Canyon Fire and warned business owners that raising prices more than 10% above pre-disaster rates on essential goods is illegal—violators may face up to one year in jail or fines up to $10,000. This action follows recent fires that highlighted the harm of price gouging to displaced residents.  SCVNews.com
