  • Today, the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and the city hold National Night Out at Central Park — located at 27150 Bouquet Canyon Road and running from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event features food trucks and a live concert by Redneck Rodeo at 7 p.m. as community members meet local law enforcement teams.  Hometown Station
  • At 10 years old, Serenity Grace Russell, a student at Castaic Elementary School, was crowned International United Miss Junior Preteen 2025-26 after representing California on July 19, and she founded Serenity's Service Squad to organize over 300 volunteer hours for local causes.   • Prop Store Valencia announced its Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction for September, where over 1,000 rare film items including Darth Vader's lightsaber will be offered. CRIME NEWS

  • On August 1, deputies in Canyon Country arrested two Bakersfield residents from a pickup truck parked behind a closed business after finding a stolen store scanner and methamphetamine—one was on probation for receiving stolen property while the other faced multiple felony warrants including charges for cruelty to a child, grand theft, and providing false ID.  Hometown Station
  • In 2014, Scott Shipley from Acton was sentenced to 40 years in prison for fatally shooting Acton Water Company co-owner Christopher Demyen—he must serve 25 years before parole eligibility with 15 extra years for firearm use, meaning he will complete at least 85% of his sentence before release.  Hometown Station

  • College of the Canyons hired Erik Matheson, former LMU women's swim associate head coach, as the head coach for its swim & dive program effective immediately—he will lead both teams and serve as an adjunct professor in kinesiology and physical education. Matheson brings over 30 years of coaching experience including his recent role at LMU—he succeeds Sean Kakumu after his 12-year tenure.  Hometown Station

  • Local developer Ed Poulin is being sued by investors including a long-time Realtor and a former congressman for not paying back loans and promising high returns that have cost them over $4 million.
