CRIME NEWS

  • Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station deputies stopped multiple e-motorcycle riders on July 24 at 2:23 p.m.—with one deputy noting that three riders were only 14—and towed four bikes during a sweep aimed at addressing local concerns over unsafe riding on public pathways.  Hometown Station

  • The city of Santa Clarita announced that the 'Allure' exhibit by Frank Rock is on view at The MAIN through Monday—Sept. 22.  SCVNews.com
  • Canyon Theatre Guild will open Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella on July 26 at 8:00 p.m. at 24242 Main St. in Newhall. Ticket holders will receive a free wine and champagne reception while the show runs until Aug 30.  SCVNews.com

  • The Santa Clarita Public Library announced that it reached its Summer Reading Program goal of 35,000 days read and encourages readers to log more reading days until Saturday, July 26.   • At the Hart board meeting on Wednesday, members discussed artificial intelligence’s impact on job security and a need for more training in manual trades.   • On Monday afternoon in Colorado, the LASC-SCV U14 boys soccer team won its first national championship, marking the first national title for any LASC boys team—this win came on the strength of careful play.   • College of the Canyons women's basketball team earned a national No. 16 ranking in WBCA’s Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll for two-year schools—achieving a 3.176 team GPA during the 2024-25 academic year under first season head coach Robin Hester. Freshman Leyna Le, Kiana Postchy and Sami Rodriguez qualified for Academic All-State honors while three players graduated with the class of 2025.  SCVNews.com
