  • The city of Santa Clarita, in partnership with the Castaic Animal Care Center, will host a Pet Adoption Day at Bridgeport Park on July 24 from 9 a.m. to noon.  SCVNews.com

  • Disneyland announced yesterday major expansion plans that include retiring rides for new attractions like a Coco-themed ride and an Avatar land — the resort will also build a 6,000-space parking structure east of Harbor Boulevard — with construction set to begin in fall 2026.  Hometown Station

CRIME NEWS

  • On Saturday night, Santa Clarita police arrested two men after they stole over $1,000 in merchandise from a Canyon Country sporting goods store on the 26500 block of Carl Boyer Drive and identified them as 32-year-old Andrew Hernandez from Parker, Arizona and 38-year-old Kishore Welch from Van Nuys—both now face charges of felony grand theft and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.  Hometown Station
  • Deputies broke up an unruly house party on the 30800 block of The Old Dirt Road—east of Sierra Highway and Vasquez Way—Friday after reports of loud music and underage drinking, and they arrested a 43-year-old man on suspicion of obstructing a peace officer and furnishing alcohol to a minor as well as a 40-year-old woman on similar charges.  The Santa Clarita Valley Signal

  • On Monday, Rep. George Whitesides led the California Congressional delegation on the House floor to honor three fallen LASD deputies including Detective Joshua Kelley-Eklund (a Santa Clarita resident), Detective Victor Lemus and Detective William Osborn who lost their lives last week while serving in the Arson Explosives Detail.  Hometown Station

  • The California Department of Public Health is urging families to update students' routine vaccines before school starts in August to help protect against measles and other serious diseases. The advice comes during National Immunization Awareness Month after a rise in measles cases nationwide (with over 90% of cases in unvaccinated individuals) and aims to keep local children safe.  SCVNews.com
