Good morning, Santa Clarita.

The Santa Clarita Valley Chamber announced its 3rd Annual Black Business Month Celebration on July 19 to honor the achievements of Black entrepreneurs in the community.

The event will be held on August 7 at 5:30 p.m. at CalArts — offering networking and inspirational stories from local business leaders.

Frank Alli, a longtime ABC7 cameraman and former College of the Canyons video teacher, is taking on his first stage role in the play The Olympians at Olive Branch Theatricals today.

The sold-out show marks the theater’s one-year anniversary—his performance will continue as part of the production run through the end of the month.

The city announced registration is now open for Fall Afterschool programs at Canyon Country and Newhall Community Centers — letting parents sign up their children for sessions that will start this fall.

After the City Council approved a fee increase to cover the higher cost of hauling trash following the Chiquita Canyon Landfill closing, Burrtec notified Santa Clarita customers who prepaid for 2025 trash service that they will be invoiced at the new rates for the period of July 1-Dec.31 (a retroactive charge that raises concerns about prepayment protections).

Bullpen BBQ — Tap House will host a fundraiser on Wednesday, July 23 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. to raise funds for Mental Health Hook-Up, a nonprofit supporting individuals and families dealing with serious mental illness.

Santa Clarita offers many summer events with scenic hikes over 100 miles of trails, free live music concerts every Saturday in Central Park and diverse dining in Old Town Newhall.

The Summer Trolley will run until Sept. 1 to connect hotels and top attractions, making it easier for residents and visitors to explore the city.
