- ➤ On Thursday afternoon, a high-speed chase that began in Palmdale ended in Santa Clarita when CHP officers detained two individuals after a black Toyota Prius—registered in Palmdale and speeding over 110 mph—was stopped near Sand Canyon Road with no injuries or collisions reported. - ➤ A traffic stop on The Old Road in Stevenson Ranch on June 27 led deputies to arrest parolee Joseph Clifford Bavle—45, a glass worker from Castaic—on felony gun charges after they found a short-barreled shotgun, firearm and live ammunition in his vehicle; officers later arrested three others on drug-related charges, and Bavle pleaded not guilty Monday while he remains held without bail pending a hearing set for July 29. - ➤ Grocery workers from six UFCW locals voted to ratify a new three-year contract with Ralphs and Albertsons—bringing wage increases, faster health care eligibility and a role in staffing reviews.
