- ➤ The City of Santa Clarita said the outdoor basketball courts at the Sports Complex closed on July 11 due to new Rink Sports Pavilion work and will stay closed until Aug. 21 to keep everyone safe—officials noted that part of the parking lot and the sand volleyball court were also moved during construction. - ➤ Santa Clarita invites local artisans and crafters to apply for Makers Marketplace—part of Light Up Main Street presented by DrinkPAK—with vendor applications open until Sept. 14 for the event scheduled on Saturday, Nov. 15. - ➤ Santa Clarita residents voiced safety concerns during a Thursday night meeting about a new battery energy storage system known as BESS that was built 200 feet from homes in Canyon Country — they demanded clear safety guarantees after citing risks similar to incidents elsewhere. - ➤ Santa Clarita has officially opened its 40th park, William S. Hart Park, now under full city ownership in Old Town Newhall.
