- ➤ Santa Clarita residents have a busy weekend ahead—tomorrow, the SCV 4th of July Parade starts at 9 a.m. in Newhall and legal fireworks displays will light up the valley on Independence Day, while families can also enjoy the Healthy Heroes PlayLab pop-up at Valencia Town Center, comedy at The MAIN, farm visits at Gilchrist Farm, and nature walks at Placerita Canyon Nature Center. - ➤ Ahead of the 4th of July, the Department of Animal Care and Control reminds pet owners to protect their pets from heat and loud fireworks. It advises never leaving pets in cars, walking them during cooler hours, and keeping them hydrated — the agency also recommends microchipping pets and using updated ID tags—to help keep pets safe and make reunification easier if they wander off. - ➤ Local nonprofit All Animal Search and Rescue of Santa Clarita will deploy its team to rescue pets spooked by fireworks on Fourth of July, when many dogs and cats may run from home. - ➤ Concerts in the Park returns to Central Park this summer with its 35th anniversary starting on July 12 featuring a Taylor Swift tribute band and a lineup that includes Bruno Mars, Madonna and Adele tributes. - ➤ Santa Clarita riders switched to the new Transit OnDemand app on Tuesday, July 1—replacing the TripShot app—and experienced faster pick-ups with more available rides.
