- ➤ The City of Santa Clarita is accepting names for the Youth Grove at Central Park, a half-acre memorial honoring local youth under 24 who died in traffic incidents and who lived in the area or attended a local school. To include a name for the Evening of Remembrance on August 27, a parent must submit a signed release form by July 11 — eligible entries require local residency or school attendance — for addition to the 121 existing pillars. - ➤ On this day in Santa Clarita history, Six Flags Magic Mountain opened Colossus— a twin-track wooden roller coaster that was once the tallest in the world by a margin of just 0.3 feet behind Cedar Point's Gemini.
