  • Fostering Youth Independence welcomed its 200th foster youth into its FYI community to help young people who age out of foster care build a safe future.   • The LEAP Children’s Museum will host its second annual Healthy Heroes Play Lab — an interactive event for children ages 2 to 8 — at Valencia Town Center from June 7 through July 6 on weekends from 9 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. The event features themed zones for health, including a low-sensory session at noon, and costs $5 per person with free admission for children under 2.  Hometown Station

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The search for 61-year-old paddleboarder Espiridion Philip Camez, who fell into the Lower Lagoon at Castaic Lake Sunday afternoon, continued into its fifth day as dive teams scanned the area after his paddleboard was recovered (investigators noted he may not have been wearing a life jacket).  Hometown Station

  • The Santa Clarita Ballet Company will present an authentic staging of The Sleeping Beauty on Saturday, June 14 at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center+ the production will showcase classic choreography and detailed sets in a timeless cultural event.  SCVNews.com

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Bowman High School held its graduation ceremony for the Class of 2025 as families and staff watched students receive diplomas and awards. Jayleen Cortez gave an emotional speech remembering her godfather and reciting an original poem—while retiring staff and outstanding students were honored for their growth and perseverance.  Hometown Station
  • The Academy of the Canyons held its graduation ceremony at the College of the Canyons Performing Arts Center on June 5—students received diplomas as Noemi Rozbruch and Jeremy Lopez shared inspiring speeches. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Rep. George Whitesides introduced the Chiquita Canyon Tax Relief Act to help families facing disruptions near the landfill, and the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors unanimously supported Supervisor Kathryn Barger's motion to have the County CEO advocate for the bill. The proposed law would exempt payments from the community relief program, government aid, and legal settlements from being taxed — a measure aimed at easing financial burdens for impacted residents.  Hometown Station
  • On Tuesday, Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Chair Kathryn Barger introduced a motion urging federal lawmakers to back legislation that would require VA physicians to sign veteran death certificates within 72 hours of notification—an action unanimously approved to reduce delays for grieving families.  Hometown Station
