ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A woman was pulled from her car and detained by sheriff’s deputies after a single-vehicle crash at Whites Canyon Road and Ashboro Drive early Sunday morning—firefighters arrived at 2:14 a.m. to take her to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital while investigators gather evidence for a possible DUI charge, marking the second incident at the intersection in days.  The Santa Clarita Valley Signal

CRIME NEWS

  • Law enforcement in Santa Clarita made 34 arrests last week for crimes including DUI, domestic violence, shoplifting, arson and drug possession—26 by local deputies and eight by CHP officers during the third consecutive week with over 30 arrests.  Hometown Station
  • A suspected DUI driver led CHP on a pursuit in Canyon Country Sunday morning on the 14 Freeway near Soledad Canyon Road at 1 a.m.—the driver stopped at the Escondido Canyon off-ramp and 59-year-old Jose Ramirez from Pacoima was arrested for misdemeanor DUI and evading arrest, with paramedics called to evaluate him.  Hometown Station
  • Tanner Prentiss, a 22-year-old UCSB student from Santa Clarita (wearing a black hoodie and jeans), was reported missing after he did not return to his rental cabin in Big Bear Lake and was last seen at about 12:30 a.m. on May 17 along Village Drive.  Hometown Station

  • Santa Clarita will host the Newhallywood Silent Film Festival on Memorial Day weekend — May 23 to May 25 — at venues including Newhall Family Theatre and The MAIN, with planned screenings and ceremonies honoring silent film pioneers like Lon Chaney and Sergei Eisenstein.   • SCV Water and ACWA announced that Cal Poly student Jade Meichtry received the Edward G. ‘Jerry’ Gladbach Scholarship—worth $2,500—and will use the award to design water systems that support local farms and communities.
