  • Child & Family Center, in partnership with Drug-Free Youth, will host a free 'Power Up' event for local youth ages 11-17 on Friday, June 20 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at MB2 Entertainment in Santa Clarita; the event will offer activities like laser tag, mini golf, a free lunch and workshops designed to build decision-making skills and self-confidence.  SCVNews.com
  • Santa Clarita will host its annual Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 26 at Eternal Valley Memorial Park Mortuary in Newhall, where the public will honor military heroes. The event will include a Condor Squadron flyby—performance by the Santa Clarita Valley Concert Band and a keynote address by Maj. Gen. Matthew P.   • The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help finding 16-year-old Alexa Nicole Rugless (last seen at 11 p.m. Monday in Pine Mountain Club) and suspects she may be in the Santa Clarita Valley (if you have information, call 661-861-3110).  Hometown Station

  • The Rancho Camulos National Historic Landmark Museum is set to show the documentary 'Ghosts of California' with a live musical performance at 1 p.m. on May 24 — tickets cost $20 and include a docent-led tour to support the museum’s preservation and education efforts.  The Santa Clarita Valley Signal
  • The Newhallywood Silent Film Festival will run from May 23 to May 25 at the Newhall Family Theatre and The MAIN in Old Town Newhall, where visitors will watch classic silent films and enjoy live music. The festival will feature screenings like Buster Keaton’s Go West on Friday, a Lon Chaney feature on Saturday and a centennial showing of Battleship Potemkin on Sunday—honoring early movie pioneers.  SCVNews.com

  • The Castaic Union School District named Daniella Rizo as principal of Live Oak Elementary and Erika Bowden as principal of Castaic Elementary for the 2025–2026 school year. Both principals bring many years of experience in education (Rizo has worked in several school roles and Bowden improved student scores) and will focus on helping students succeed.  SCVNews.com
  • Lucy Verlaque from Santa Clarita was named one of six finalists for Washington College’s 2025 Sophie Kerr Prize valued at more than $74K. The award ceremony—where finalists will read their work—will take place today at 7:30 p.m. in Hotchkiss Recital Hall.  SCVNews.com

  • Santa Clarita has celebrated Dodger Day for 46 years, and Mayor Pro Tem Laurene Weste invites locals to attend on Saturday, June 21 for a game with free shuttle rides and a clear stadium bag—an event designed for families and friends to enjoy together. Local pitcher Tyler Glasnow, a Hart High School graduate, returned to his school last year to inspire young athletes and continues to be a proud part of our community.  SCVNews.com
  • At Antelope Hills Golf Course North, The Master’s University men’s team finished third in the GSAC Championship Tournament while the women’s team ended their season in fifth place.
