  • The city of Santa Clarita will host the Medieval Quest SENSES Block Party on May 21 from 7 to 10 p.m. on Main Street in Old Town Newhall, offering an evening of medieval-themed fun for the community.  SCVNews.com
  • Assistance League Santa Clarita helped 120 sixth graders pick promotion outfits at a JC Penny shopping event on Sunday, Apr. 26 — a nonprofit effort aimed at preparing them for middle school.  SCVNews.com
  • Santa Clarita Valley Animal Shelter seeks a forever home for inseparable pups Bonnie, a 1-year-old Queensland heeler, and Clyde, a 3-year-old Alaskan husky, who need calm homes and training.   • Santa Clarita’s Concerts in the Park series returns to Central Park (27150 Bouquet Canyon Road) for its 36th season of free live music. Residents can attend concerts every Saturday from July 11 through Aug. 29, with food trucks opening at 5 p.m. and show time beginning at 7 p.m.  Hometown Station

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Graduation ceremonies for the Class of 2026 are set throughout the valley with the Athletic Field hosting on May 8 (already held), Hart High Auditorium on May 14, and Cougar Stadium for several schools from May 26 through June 5. Check with each school for details.  Hometown Station
  • The Hart District announced two new educational leaders with Jan Daisher as Chief Administrative Officer for Student Services and Leadership Support and Elizabeth Wilson as Principal of Learning Post Academy starting July 1. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Metrolink confirmed its reduced schedule (active since March 23) remains beyond the original 7 weeks as funding and mechanical issues persist. A public comment period began on May 1 and a hearing is set for June 26 at 10 a.m. at 1 Gateway Plaza to discuss fare hikes and cuts.  SCVNews.com

  • Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital will host Girl Talk: A Women's Health Series on Thursday, May 14 to focus on the mental wellness of children, adolescents and their families — part of Mental Health Awareness Month.  SCVNews.com
