Good morning, Santa Clarita. Here's your local news at a glance for Monday, the 5th of May.

COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Hundreds of families gathered at West Creek Park on May 4 to enjoy FestAbility, a free city-backed event that offered live music, adaptive sports, therapy animals (including goats and therapy dogs) and sensory-friendly activities for people with special needs. The celebration began when Dena Bogrow asked the city to create a more inclusive event after her daughter struggled at crowded shows and has grown each year with support from community groups and city officials.  Hometown Station
  • Kristan Hinze, 43, a lifelong Santa Clarita Valley resident and educator, chose a home at Valencia by FivePoint in 2023 because the strong schools and close-knit community made it feel like home—she now serves as Valencia Community Ambassador, greeting visitors at the Farmers Market every Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.  The Santa Clarita Valley Signal
  • On May 4th, hundreds gathered at Central Park in Saugus for the Relay For Life walk to support the fight against cancer by the American Cancer Society. The event featured live music and food trucks — a luminaria ceremony honored survivors and remembered those lost.  Hometown Station
