  • Bay Center Foods in Valencia juices thousands of golden lemons every day to make Chick-Fil-A's signature lemonade for local and national customers.   • SCVi Charter School in Castaic will host a DreamUp to Space Celebration on May 8 at 10:30 a.m. to honor students whose bamboo seed experiment launched to the International Space Station+ middle school and grade 6 students will also present aerospace projects on May 9 and May 15 as part of the school’s Aerospace Career-Connected Learning Pathway.  Hometown Station

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department will conduct a traffic safety operation May 6 from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.—the operation will target speeding, making illegal turns and not yielding to pedestrians or bicyclists and is funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.  SCVNews.com
  • SCV Water Agency will hold its regular board meeting on Tuesday, May 6 at 6 p.m. at the Administration Building—EGJG Water Treatment Plant Boardroom at 27234 Bouquet Canyon Road in Santa Clarita; those unable to attend in person may join via Zoom or phone and submit written comments by 4 p.m. on the meeting day for board review.  SCVNews.com
  • Starting May 5, the southbound I-5 Calgrove Boulevard on-ramp in Santa Clarita will close for 30 days to let construction crews upgrade pavement, install guardrails, and do utility work — local motorists are advised to follow detour routes until it reopens on June 4.  SCVNews.com

  • On April 30 in the CIF lacrosse playoffs, Saugus boys lost 12-9 to Crespi while Valencia boys won 9-7 in triple overtime and West Ranch boys received a bye; West Ranch girls beat Santiago 16-12 and Crespi will face St. John Bosco on Friday at 5 p.m.—Chaparral, after beating Saugus girls 11-9, will meet Village Christian today at 5 p.m.—as playoff matchups are set.  Hometown Station
