  • On April 29, 2025, the rain did not stop the 14th Annual KHTS Home and Garden Show from drawing around 19,000 visitors to Santa Clarita Central Park. The event featured a petting zoo at Gilchrist Farm, food trucks, an Emergency Expo Jaws of Life demonstration, and 400 vendor booths—demonstrating strong local support despite the weather.  Hometown Station

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Valencia Chick-Fil-A on Magic Mountain Parkway will close temporarily tomorrow at 2 p.m. for remodeling of its kitchen and dining room + a new location on The Old Road is expected to open soon.  Hometown Station

CRIME NEWS

  • A suspect who stole an electric scooter from Best Buy on Bouquet Canyon Road in Saugus was chased by deputies around 5:30 p.m. on Monday and has been booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.  Hometown Station

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Due to a bus driver shortage and staffing issues, Castaic Union School District announced it will stop providing home-to-school transportation for general education students for the rest of the school year—special education routes will continue. The district plans to open bus applications online from mid May through late May for the upcoming school year as it works to address the shortage.  The Santa Clarita Valley Signal

  • The Santa Clarita Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission will meet at 6 p.m. on May 1 at Council Chambers to receive an update on Old Orchard Park construction—officials plan to discuss project progress.  SCVNews.com
  • Assemblywoman Pilar Schiavo’s Landfill Safety Act, AB28, was advanced by the Assembly Natural Resources Committee to address toxic chemical releases from the burning Chiquita Canyon Landfill affecting Santa Clarita and nearby communities. The bill requires operators to alert residents and submit corrective plans + face penalties and possible permit loss if they fail to act, and it also creates a fund to aid affected areas + now heads to the Assembly Appropriations Committee.  SCVNews.com

SPORTS NEWS

  • The College of the Canyons women’s golf team and Cougars football team were honored with the 3C2A Scholar Team Award for the 2023-24 school year—recognizing their strong academics and athletic achievements. The golf team captured its fifth state title with a combined GPA of 3.68 while the football team ended its season with a 6-5 record and returned to postseason play.  SCVNews.com
