  • Gilchrist Farm will offer its free Butterfly Encounter (with a petting zoo for ponies and goats) at the 15th annual KHTS Home and Garden Show on Saturday, April 25 and Sunday, April 26 at Central Park in Saugus.  Hometown Station
  • The 15th annual KHTS Home and Garden Show will feature an Emergency Expo on Saturday, April 25 at Central Park in Saugus with live demos from local emergency teams (fire, highway, sheriff, and city). Some vendors will also display on Sunday, and admission is free.  Hometown Station

  • Yard House will open this Sunday, April 19, at River Oaks Shopping Center in Valencia as the site is redeveloped from Mimi’s Cafe — a project led by Darden Restaurants.  Hometown Station

CULTURE NEWS

  • On April 16, 1962, Walt Disney donated eight bison from his ranch to Hart Park in Newhall during Hollywood's last buffalo roundup. County supervisors and Disney officials led the transfer, making the animals a treasured part of the community history.  Hometown Station

EDUCATION NEWS

  • After over 100 nominations and 1,400 votes, ALLBRiGHT 1-800-PAINTING announced its 2025 Paint-It-Forward Teacher of the Year winners, including a Valencia High teacher, a Hart High coach from Saugus, and a first-grade educator following the Eaton Fire. Each receives a $1,000 classroom grant & up to $10,000 in free painting services.  SCVNews.com
  • College of the Canyons will host its annual Discover Day on Friday, April 24 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Valencia campus, where prospective and new students can explore academic programs (free event with parking) and learn about student services.  The Santa Clarita Valley Signal
  • The College of the Canyons celebrated renaming its iCUE facility (now the Diana and Gary Cusumano Culinary Arts Building) with a ribbon-cutting on Thursday at its Valencia campus.   • On May 8, The Master's University will hold its 99th annual commencement at its Newhall campus starting at 6 p.m.; 438 students will graduate while guests (tickets required) must follow a new parking plan, and Dr. Thomas Halstead will deliver the address with a livestream available online.  Hometown Station

HEALTH NEWS

  • Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Foundation is celebrating more than 300 volunteers (and dozens of pets) who support hospital operations this April with services like shuttle assistance and patient check-ins. The foundation is also gearing up for its 53rd annual golf tournament on the second weekend of May to raise funds for emergency and trauma programs.  SCVNews.com

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Wednesday, the Centurions beat Hart 9-1 after scoring three early runs, with Matt Long adding two RBI. The team will face Hart again today at Saugus High School with first pitch at 3:30 p.m.  The Santa Clarita Valley Signal
  • Isaac Seltzer was named GSAC Men's Volleyball Player of the Year and joins four other Mustangs on the All-GSAC list, marking his third honor. The senior posted a career-high 286 kills + a 4.6 kill average for The Master's this season.  SCVNews.com
  • Valencia Vikings improved their lead in the Foothill League after winning their fourth-round match at Sand Canyon Country Club Tuesday, with junior Aidan Chroman scoring 71 (-1) and making seven birdies to build a 47-stroke advantage over Saugus.  The Santa Clarita Valley Signal
  • College of the Canyons hosts Cougar Pride Girls Basketball Camp June 22-25 at its Valencia West P.E. gymnasium (9 a.m. to 2 p.m. M/T/W/Th). Girls in grades 3-8 learn skills through drills with registration open at $250 per camper and early discounts.  SCVNews.com
