  • Vasquez Rock Natural Area and Nature Center is hosting Day at The Rocks, a family event and tribal celebration of the Village of Mapipinga, on Saturday, April 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  SCVNews.com
  • A free family history fair featuring genealogy classes and a keynote by the Eav family is set for Saturday, April 18 at the Valencia Stake Center in Santa Clarita—registration starts at 8 a.m. and classes run through 2:30 p.m., with lunch available for $8.  Hometown Station
  • Traffic slowed on the 24000 block of Newhall Ranch Road Tuesday as a bystander helped a family of geese cross the busy roadway, allowing seven goslings and their two parents to reach the other side—clearing the backup.  The Santa Clarita Valley Signal

  • Old Town Newhall’s Main Street hosts SENSES Block Party events through September with live music, themed activities, food trucks & an on-street bar; the season begins Thursday, April 16 with a ranch theme and features medieval quests on May 21 and an 80s bash on June 18.  SCVNews.com
  • The Canyon Country Community Center will host its monthly Celebrate event featuring England on April 20 (6 to 9 p.m.). The event will showcase English customs, food, and traditions to bring the community together.  SCVNews.com

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Local college students earned dean’s list honors for fall 2025 as Cooper Luckenbach (Santa Clarita) at Lincoln Memorial University, Gabriel Chavez (Canyon Country) and Ella Mee (Newhall) at Pacific University, and Matthew Cole (Valencia) at Linfield University met strict GPA requirements.  The Santa Clarita Valley Signal
  • West Ranch High School junior Colton Fernandez earned the top ACT composite score of 36, joining about one-quarter of 1% of students nationwide. The news release from ACT said his achievement shows readiness for first-year college courses.  The Santa Clarita Valley Signal
  • ARTree Community Arts Center is hosting summer art camps and workshops in June and July for students of various age groups (ages 7–10, 11–16, and adults). The sessions, including Junk It Up!, Junk Journaling, Inventive Drawing, Art for All, and Acrylic Painting, will offer guided projects using recycled materials.  SCVNews.com
  • The Saugus Union School District seeks nominations for the Dr. Joan Lucid Leadership and Service Award for outstanding contributions to student learning.   • After the 2025–26 season ended, Golden Valley’s Donavon Webb made the Division 3 All CIF-SS team after leading his team to its first Foothill League title since 2009, while Canyon’s Issac Yuhico was named to the Division 7 team after setting a school scoring record with 842 points.  Hometown Station
  • The Master's University men's volleyball team swept Soka University of America in Aliso Viejo on Tuesday, Apr. 7 while Isaac Igo and Jace Davis set career highs in kills to win the regular season title.  SCVNews.com
  • Four Master's beach volleyball players Emma Winter, Zoe Yates, Izzy Rodriguez + Ashlan Van Groningen earned spots on the all-conference team, recognizing their strong performance in the GSAC. The selections were announced following the season's play.  SCVNews.com
