- ➤ College of the Canyons will host a free Santa Clarita Job Fair on Friday, April 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its Valencia campus West Gym, and a Resume Refresh event (held Tuesday, April 7 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) will help job seekers update their resumes. Hometown Station
- ➤ Families attended the 15th annual Splash N’ Dash on Saturday at the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center, where children collected eggs sliding down the waterslide pool and then exchanged them for prizes. Kaiser Permanente sponsored the event & handed out free reusable bags and life jackets to early participants. Hometown Station
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On April 4, 2018, Maj. Stephen Del Bagno — a Saugus High School graduate and Air Force Thunderbird pilot — died in a plane crash during a training flight over the Nevada Test and Training Range when high G-forces caused him to lose consciousness; his loss is still remembered. Hometown Station
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The CHP is urging drivers to follow the state’s hands-free cellphone law this April as part of Distracted Driving Awareness Month. Officers will enforce the law statewide with a zero-tolerance campaign running from Apr. 6 to 13 and a 24-hour maximum enforcement period starting at 6 a.m. on Apr. 28. Hometown Station
