Teams from the Hart district—including Saugus, Golden Valley, and West Ranch—competed in the Academic Decathlon regionals focused on the Roaring ’20s.

Saugus finished 11th out of 72 teams while senior Owen Higgins earned a bronze medal in science, highlighting the team’s shared love of learning.

Local Saugus High junior Aaryan Patel was accepted into MIT’s six-week Research Science Institute starting in June (where mentors from top universities guide students in independent STEM research) and he will use computational biology to improve drug design in honor of his late grandfather.

The 14th Annual Hart Games will be held at Valencia High School Stadium on Monday, March 16 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., organized by Adapted Physical Education Department — 350 special education students from 11 schools will compete in track and field events; free admission is offered.
