  • Residents are invited to register online for the Earth Day Neighborhood Cleanup scheduled Saturday, April 25 from 8-11 a.m. Registration opens today (March 6).  SCVNews.com
  • The Cube Ice and Entertainment Center is hosting spring programs, including Little Kings hockey for children and the Spring Hockey Cup from May 21 to 25. LA Skating Academy will offer classes for beginners and experienced skaters in a welcoming environment.  SCVNews.com
  • The Special Olympics Southern California Region 2 held a Tip-a-Cop event at Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar in Valencia on Tuesday, March 3 to raise funds. The event generated $3,536 that will support the Special Olympics SCV chapter.  The Santa Clarita Valley Signal
  • The SCV Senior Center hosted the Santa Clarita Valley Man & Woman of the Year 2026 Nominee Presentation Party on March 4, where 31 nominees including 14 men and 17 women selected by nonprofits were honored.   • Lucky Luke Brewing in collaboration with Color Me Mine is hosting a St. Patrick’s Day mug painting class “Pints & Paints” on Thursday, March 12 from 6-9 p.m. at the brewery — an event designed for art enthusiasts to enjoy a festive creative twist.  SCVNews.com
  • On March 5, 1864, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors accepted General Edward Beale’s completed road through San Fernando Pass, which made travel safer by removing steep drop-offs—this milestone boosted movement for early settlers and miners.  Hometown Station

  • Dennis Yong was unanimously appointed assistant principal at Rancho Pico Junior High School by the William S. Hart Union High School District board on Feb. 19.   • Students in an adult transition program at Hart High School are running the mobile coffee shop The Lucky Cup to learn practical skills like taking orders, preparing drinks, and interacting with customers. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A 1,150-MW battery storage project called the Prairie Song Reliability Project is under review by the California Energy Commission after a meeting at Acton Agua Dulce Library last Tuesday, where locals cited fire risk and environmental concerns as labor groups backed creation. HEALTH NEWS

  • The Samuel Dixon Family Health Center held its first Crab Fest fundraiser on Saturday, Feb. 28 at Santa Clarita's Elks Lodge No. 2379 in Canyon Country. The event sold 130 tickets and served over 300 pounds of Alaskan king crab to benefit primary health care, pediatrics, behavioral health, substance use treatment and non-emergency services.  The Santa Clarita Valley Signal

  • The Master’s University golf team saw Hannah Ulibarri finish third and Wes Opliger was fourth at the RMC Intercollegiate in Lake Las Vegas on March 3-4 + Coach Luke Brueckner said the result built momentum ahead of their home event at La Purisima Golf Club.  SCVNews.com
  • College of the Canyons men's golf secured its second straight Western State Conference tournament win with an eight-stroke victory at Cypress Ridge Golf Club on Monday, March 2.
