  • On March 4, 1906, San Fernando resident Alson C. Dunbar was found fatally shot near a Newhall Pass roadhouse where he and his wife Tillie once ran a saloon, and local gossip lingered despite a coroner ruling the death an accident.  Hometown Station

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Saugus Union School District board reviewed feedback from over 550 community members (including 427 survey responses) Tuesday as it set priorities for its new superintendent. The board seeks a leader with strong communication and problem-solving skills to guide candidate interviews and select a superintendent by July 1.  Hometown Station
  • Registration remains open for over 340 short-term classes at College of the Canyons for spring; courses start in March and April at Valencia + Canyon Country and online. Tuition-free classes by the School of Personal and Professional Learning support lifelong learning until spots fill.  SCVNews.com

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Centurions won a state playoff game, 46+39, on Tuesday against the Lincoln Hornets at Saugus High School, marking their first state victory. They will host the Grossmont Foothillers today at 6 p.m. in the second round.  The Santa Clarita Valley Signal
