  • The annual Lenten Fish Fry at St. Clare’s Parish kicked off Friday using a licensed caterer to meet updated health guidelines. Attendees expressed frustration over a price hike from $18 to $25 & lower fish quality with missing side items.  Hometown Station
  • KHTS Radio is moving from its longtime Main Street studio in Old Town Newhall to new studios at the Valencia Industrial Center, as its former building will become Hartwell luxury apartments; owners say this is the fourth move since 1990 (marking growth and local commitment).  Hometown Station

  • The Santa Clarita Public Library chose The Music Shop by Rachel Joyce for One Story One City and will host music inspired events this March. The schedule includes events on March 6, 18, 28, and 29 at The MAIN, Lucky Luke Brewing, Old Town Library & Valencia Library respectively.  SCVNews.com
  • Students, families, and community members attended the Hart District's fourth annual Black History Month Art Exhibit on Wednesday, where student artwork across various mediums honored Black history (highlighting art as a way to share powerful stories).  Hometown Station

HEALTH NEWS

  • The American Red Cross is set to host blood drives at two Santa Clarita libraries on Monday, March 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Community members can donate blood to help local patients.  SCVNews.com

  • Eligible California households from the 2018 wildfire zones may get up to $350,000 in deferred, interest-free down payment help to buy homes through the ReCoverCA program, managed by the Golden State Finance Authority (conditions apply) to bridge the affordability gap.  SCVNews.com

  • Three players from College of the Canyons’ men’s basketball team were named to the All-Western State Conference, South Division team. Donovan Cornelius & Dwayne Boston Jr. earned first-team honors while Craig Irons received an honorable mention; the Cougars finished 16-12 and will face the 3C2A Southern California Regional Playoffs.  SCVNews.com
