  • Circle of Hope will host its Vine2Wine fundraiser on Mar. 28 at Bella Vida at the senior center, offering gourmet food, wine and beer tastings, live music, and auctions while encouraging toga attire to support families facing cancer.  The Santa Clarita Valley Signal
  • The Canyon Coyotes 4-H club has presented the Chris Carroll Award to two seniors—16-year-old club treasurer Michael Chourbagi and reporter Evelett Sparks—for their outstanding contributions.   • Carousel Ranch will host its annual free Pancake Breakfast and Open House on Saturday, Feb. 28 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at 34289 Rocking Horse Road. The event will offer pancakes, a Touch-a-Truck with first responders — and matching donations by Wayne and Dianne Crawford up to $20k.  Hometown Station

CULTURE NEWS

  • Santa Clarita Symphony Orchestra will present 'Dreams and Destinies' on Sunday, Mar. 8 at 4 p.m. at the Canyob High School Performing Arts Center – the program features film score favorites, including John Williams' 'Adventures on Earth' from E.T., and young soloists Addilyn Found, Liam Chao, and Hiroshi Corro.  SCVNews.com

  • Actor Gary Lockwood — a Hart High alumnus known for Star Trek and 2001: A Space Odyssey — was born on Feb. 21, 1937; his family’s farms later helped shape the Santa Clarita Valley’s heritage.  Hometown Station

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The WiSH Education Foundation is hosting free monthly webinars to help college bound high school seniors and their families with college admissions guidance. The arts majors session is set for March 11 and a financial aid webinar will run on April 15 at 5 to 6:30 p.m.  SCVNews.com

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Caltrans will close up to two lanes on the northbound and southbound Lake Hughes and Templin Hwy ramps on I-5 tonight from 8 P.M. to 6 A.M. and will limit lanes from 9 A.M. to 3 P.M. tomorrow through Feb. 27, slowing traffic near Castaic.  Hometown Station

SPORTS NEWS

  • Canyon dropped its bid for back-to-back championships in an overtime semifinal loss to Salesian on Feb.21, when two free throws in the last 17 seconds gave Salesian a 61-58 win — Canyon has secured a CIF State playoff berth and will review film before March state postseason play.  Hometown Station
