  • Seventeen-year-old Santa Clarita student Campbell Laraway and friends made over 300 handmade Valentine’s Day cards for patients at Children's Hospital Los Angeles after a volunteer post called for help; she was motivated by her own hospital experience and hopes the cards will bring comfort during their stay.  Hometown Station
  • St. Clare of Assisi Parish in Canyon Country kicks off its 48th Annual Lenten Fish Fry today at 4 p.m. and will serve fish and chips until 8:30 p.m. for a six-week run.  SCVNews.com

  • Santa Clarita will mark 30 years of the Cowboy Festival at William S. Hart Park, hosting live cowboy, country, folk, and bluegrass music, dance lessons, and living history demonstrations that honor Western tradition.   • College of the Canyons earned Bee Campus USA designation — the only community college in Southern California with the honor — to boost its native pollinator and habitat restoration efforts.   • On Wednesday night, Canyon’s postseason ended when the Cowboys lost 50-47 to St. Margaret’s in a close CIF-SS quarterfinal game, with Darby Dunn scoring a team-high 24 points & late free throws securing the win for the Tartans.  Hometown Station
  • Valencia and Saugus girls basketball teams advanced to CIF-SS semifinals after wins on Wednesday. Valencia will host Windward tonight at 7 p.m. and Saugus will travel to Camarillo Saturday at 7 p.m.  Hometown Station
