  • John Lite was named board president of the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley for the 2026-2027 term, succeeding Jenny Ketchepaw, and will lead youth+family programs across 13 sites. His long service since 2019 shows his commitment to community growth.  SCVNews.com

  • Three film productions are scheduled in the Santa Clarita Valley this week from Monday, Feb. 9 to Sunday, Feb. 15, including projects like Feature, Mascots, and Complex Texas, which boost local business spending & community activity.  SCVNews.com

  • SCVi Charter School recently launched College Connect, a program that lets all high school students self-select into earning college credits through on-campus coursework in partnership (with a local community college). ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Meteorologist Joe Sirard (NWS) says rain will arrive late Tuesday night into Wednesday a.m. with leftover showers Wednesday afternoon, bringing 1 to 1.5 inches to the area; a colder storm is forecast for Sunday that may lower snow levels to 4,000 feet, potentially affecting local roadways.  Hometown Station

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • SCV Water has asked customers to halt outdoor water use from Feb. 17-24 while the California Department of Water Resources performs second scheduled maintenance at Castaic Lake (for pipeline repairs).  SCVNews.com
  • On Feb. 9, 1971, a California appeals court revived a civil action against former state official William Bonelli, reversing a 1969 dismissal and clarifying service rules for defendants living outside the state — a notable moment in our local legal history.  Hometown Station

  • The College of the Canyons Valencia Campus will host an American Red Cross Blood Drive (in the cafeteria) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Feb. 17-18.  SCVNews.com
  • Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital in Santa Clarita will soon use SuperSaturated Oxygen Therapy to help heart attack patients by reducing muscle damage after treatment; the FDA-approved method is among the first in Southern California to improve care.  SCVNews.com

  • The CIF Southern Section picked five boys and four girls high school soccer teams from the Foothill League for the playoffs. Boys will play on Feb. 11 and girls on Feb. 12 as game times are set at some venues while other details remain pending.  SCVNews.com
